Getting to work on a huge set as an actor is such a different experience now as an independent producer.
Instead of being worried about my tiny part, I get to watch how a whole ecosystem operates.
The last set I was on must have had 250 people on it -- certainly a bigger set than I've ever run, but a lot of the principles remain the same.
There can be great value in approaching a challenge/problem from a perspective that is different from the people's who have been doing it for ages. Sometimes there is a different perspective to be gleaned; something obvious to you because no one has taught you that there's a reason it's always been the way it is.
Getting to go on set as an actor is like that for me now. I go to be part of the whole production, even if my role is rather small, and it helps inform me when I'm on set in a producorial capacity.
